In Indonesia, ESG has taken centre stage following the government’s commitment to implement the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), which aim to promote sustainable development by 2030. The Indonesian government has issued POJK 51/2017 as a benchmark for ESG Development Towards Zero Emissions, which includes a mandate for financial institutions to produce Sustainability Reports.
While there is a published “Roadmap of SDGs: Indonesia” which outlines policy directions and strategies for each of the 17 SDGs from 2020 to 2030, and POJK 51/2017, there are still a number of ESG directives in the country’s regulatory landscape.
